Why stay in Marion & other FAQ's
1. Why stay in Marion, IL. ?
In Marion we are guaranteed to have the type of rooms that we request, whereas in Paducah we have to
settle for what the hotel gives us. For example, you request a 2 bed non smoking room, in Paducah you may
get a king smoking room. In Marion you would get what you requested.
Also , the room in Paducah (which might not be the room requested) is 2 1/2 to 3 times the cost.
We have chosen Marion so our customers get the type of room they want and pay a reasonable price for the
trip. Besides, the short ride to Paducah gives quilters a chance to socialize and plan for the day's events,
while the ride back to Marion gives them the opportunity to " show n tell " their purchases and experiences.
2. How structured is the trip ?
Traveling days are very structured, however, on Friday and Saturday quilters may follow our itinerary or go off
on their at any the time after we arrive in Pacucah until the time we leave the convention center for Marion.
This allows you to " tailor " your time in Paducah to fit your personal preferences.
3. Where are the pick-up and drop-off points?
At this time we have 3 motorcoaches that will pick up quilters. Each motorcoach will pick up at 3 to 5
locations. Pick up points will be in Saginaw, Flint, Detroit, Lansing, Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo,
Mishawaka, and the Chesterton/Valpo area. Additional points will be added if necessary. Specific locations
are not determined until closer to the time of departure.
4. Is there room on the motorcoach to bring my purchases home?
The motorcoaches have overhead compartments in the passenger area and ample luggage bays below. As
long as passengers take a moderate amount of luggage for a 4 day/3 night trip all should be fine.
5. How long of a trip is it and what is the motorcoach like?
Depending on your pick-up point the trip is 450 to 575 miles. On the way to and from Marion we stop every 2
to 3 hours for either a meal or to stretch at a rest area. There is a restroom on the motorcoach in case of
emergency. The passenger seats are reclining and the motorcoach is climate controlled. Because
everyone's internal thermostat is different you may want to bring a sweater or jacket on board.
